Ram offers a choice of two engines for the Ram 2500 HD. The first engine is a 6.4L naturally-aspirated HEMI V8 engine. This engine generates 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. It is great for hauling cargo and has a max payload capacity of 4,010 pounds. The Ram 2500 HD can tow a maximum of 17,540 pounds, which is slightly lower than what the diesel engine can tow.

The available engine is a 6.7L Cummins turbo diesel engine. This engine mates to a six-speed automatic transmission and makes 370 horses and 1,850 pound-feet of torque. It is a powerful engine for when you need maximum towing and when you need to drive on rugged terrain. It can tow a maximum of 20,000 pounds and has a maximum payload of 3,160 pounds. Whichever engine you choose, you will have enough power to haul and tow cargo on and off the road.
