If you are getting ready to drive to work in Dalhart, TX, the last thing you want to find is that your car won't start because of a dead battery. There are a couple of ways you can test your battery to find out if it’s starting to fail.

The best way to test your battery is with a tool called a multimeter. You attach it to your battery and then turn on the engine. A battery in good working order should test at least 12.6 volts.

If you don't have a multimeter, you can do a more rudimentary test. Shut off your car and turn on your headlights for about 10-15 minutes. Then start your car. If your headlights dim, it's a sign your battery may need to be replaced.

If you need a new battery or want to get it tested, bring your car in to Xit Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram.
