A Glimpse at the Ram 2500 Powertrain Options

At XIT Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we try to keep our Dalhart consumers informed about the models in our inventory. If you are interested in the Ram 2500, you have a number of powertrains to choose from that include three engines and two transmissions.

The 5.7L HEMI V8 engine comes with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology for improved efficiency. This engine can produce up to 383 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque, and it has a maximum towing capacity of 13,890. The 6.4L HEMI V8 engine offers a best-in-class towing capacity of 16,320 pounds. This engine can also reach up to 410 horsepower, which is best-in-class gas horsepower. The 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel I6 engine can reach up to 370 horsepower and 800 lb.-ft. of torque, and this engine comes with a class-exclusive smart diesel exhaust brake.

The six-speed manual transmission is only offered with the 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine. The six-speed automatic transmission is standard with the 5.7L HEMI V8 and 6.4L HEMI V8 engine and is available with the 6.7L Cummins engine.
